Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s The Standup Sessions: produced with Stupid Old Studios, BirdDog, and NDI

The Standup Sessions, a project for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, faced the challenge of producing a high-end comedy show with a tiny live audience during the COVID-19 shutdown. Partnering with BirdDog, they needed a flexible production workflow to bring together top comedy talent without the need for extensive traditional cabling and hardware.

BirdDog provided an all-NDI workflow using its Mini encoders. The solution delivered video, audio, power, tally, and comms over a single Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for a costly dedicated comms system. The project was an instant success, premiering on YouTube and Facebook. The workflow's success sold the team on NDI, leading them to further invest in BirdDog's 4K technology for future-proofing their studio.
