BirdDog helps Harvard University move to NDI

Harvard University, with the largest athletics program in the NCAA, faced the challenge of moving its extensive broadcast production for nearly 300 annual home games from a traditional baseband video system with complex cabling to a more flexible and modern IP-based workflow. They partnered with vendor BirdDog and utilized their cameras with native NDI capabilities, including the A200 and P200 models, to achieve this transition.

The solution implemented by BirdDog provided Harvard with a native IP workflow, allowing them to permanently mount weatherproof A200 cameras outdoors and control them remotely from the production control room. This eliminated the need to run extensive cable and provided greater flexibility in placing commentators across campus. BirdDog's dedicated support was crucial in resolving network integration issues. The results included a more streamlined production process and a significant move towards their goal of relying more heavily on NDI technology for future broadcasts.
