Coastal Sunbelt Produce Shines with PO Automation

Coastal Sunbelt Produce, a leading produce and dairy distributor in the Mid-Atlantic, struggled with a slow, manual purchase-order process for customers using BirchStreet Systems. Orders arrived by email and had to be opened, printed and re-entered into Coastal Sunbelt’s system, requiring a dedicated customer service representative and creating a bottleneck that limited responsiveness to price and availability changes across ~3,500 items.

BirchStreet Systems implemented a PO integration using its cloud-based procure-to-pay and eProcurement solution so customer purchase orders automatically flow into Coastal Sunbelt’s order-entry system. The automation eliminated much of the manual data entry, freed the dedicated BirchStreet customer service rep for other duties, and saved an estimated two to four hours per day (up to 50% of one employee), improving efficiency and order-processing speed.
