Wilson & Company, a professional services firm based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was facing rising medical costs after a series of large claims drove overall healthcare spending up 40%. As a self-insured employer with a widely distributed workforce, the company wanted better insight into employee health risks and needed a practical way to engage employees in prevention and wellness. To address this, Wilson & Company partnered with BioIQ for biometric screening and health risk assessment support.

BioIQ implemented annual biometric screenings, online health assessments, and wellness program support using at-home and on-site test kits for employees and spouses on the medical plan. The program focused on diabetes and heart disease risk, and participation grew from 169 employees in year one to 187 in year two, supported by incentives of $25 to $50. Wilson & Company reported significant reductions in healthcare costs and said it was the first time in six years the company did not have to increase employee health premiums.
