Scripps Health, a community-based health care system and San Diego health care provider, wanted to improve employee wellness participation and help staff better monitor risks such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. To support this goal, Scripps worked with BioIQ and its partner Alere to offer biometric screening through both onsite clinics and an at-home testing option.

BioIQ provided finger-prick home test kits and onsite screening for lipid panels and A1c testing, with confidential results shared securely and optionally with health coaches. The program helped Scripps reach its 50% participation goal and delivered measurable impact: participants had 17% fewer emergency room visits, 25% fewer hospital visits, 20% lower medical and pharmacy costs, 11% fewer prescriptions, and a 1.3 ROI, meaning every $1 spent on wellness returned $1.30.
