How The First National Bank of Long Island increased internal security with biometric authentication

The First National Bank of Long Island needed a stronger multifactor authentication approach to improve internal access security and meet banking compliance requirements such as PCI-DSS, GLBA, and SOX. After a prior biometric attempt failed, the bank reevaluated its options and selected BIO-key, including its ID Director for Windows solution and fingerprint readers, to support secure authentication for Windows users.

BIO-key implemented ID Director for Windows to provide biometric authentication tied to Active Directory, enabling secure sign-on for shared workstations and roving users without repeated complex password entry. The result was streamlined access, better workflow, and greatly reduced password reset requests, while the bank also achieved its security goals at a lower total cost than expected.
