How Oaks Christian School integrated all resources and applications into a single point of access with Single Sign-On (SSO)

Oaks Christian School, a private K-12 institution in California, needed a better way to give students, parents, and faculty secure access to many online resources. The school wanted self-service password reset and seamless single sign-on across core applications like Blackbaud, Canvas, and G Suite for Education, but struggled to find a solution that could support identity federation and integrate all of its web apps reliably. BIO-key’s PortalGuard was selected to address these needs.

BIO-key implemented PortalGuard as a customizable authentication platform with SSO, SSPR, 2FA, and support for multiple directories, while also avoiding the need for parent accounts in Active Directory by using a custom users table. The result was a centralized, mobile-friendly login experience with improved security and reduced administrative overhead, plus no per-user fee.
