A BIO-key Case Study
Husson University, a higher education institution in Maine with 700–1000 users, needed a more secure and efficient way to enroll new users and keep account data accurate. The university worked with BIO-key and its PortalGuard solution to address weak initial passwords, lack of automatic password expiration, and the need for manual updates to user records tied to CAMS, Active Directory, and Google Apps.
BIO-key implemented PortalGuard on premises to integrate with the local directory, enforce mandatory security questions during forced enrollment, and require users to reset weak initial passwords to meet IT-defined password policies. PortalGuard also automated batch updates through scheduled CSV imports, reducing manual IT work and keeping user information current; the case study notes improved security and seamless synchronization, though it does not provide specific quantitative results.
