Vocera Communications, the Cupertino-based maker of the Vocera Badge, was overwhelmed by manual serial and lot number data entry into Microsoft Dynamics GP as shipments grew to 3,000–4,000 badges per month. To eliminate this bottleneck they engaged Binary Stream and adopted Binary Stream’s Serial & Lot Number Processing solution.

Binary Stream implemented its Serial & Lot Number Processing tool (built in Dexterity) to allow copy/paste import of Excel serial lists, validate uniqueness against work and history tables, and add a custom range-based trace inquiry. The change reduced serial/lot processing time by about 75%, improved data integrity, removed a purchasing/sales bottleneck, and freed staff to focus on higher-value tasks.
