BT Conferencing Adapting to Acquisition Change with Advanced Revenue & Expense Deferrals

BT Conferencing, created after Wire One Communications was acquired by The BT Group in April 2008, faced stricter financial-compliance requirements and more frequent reporting into BT’s Hyperion system while rapidly scaling its conferencing services. To meet heightened monthly, quarterly and annual revenue-recognition and forecasting demands, BT Conferencing used Binary Stream’s Advanced Revenue & Expense Deferrals product.

Binary Stream’s solution automated and consolidated deferral management, enabling BT Conferencing to support over 10,000 deferral schedules and defer approximately $25–30 million annually while adding 300–700 new deferral schedules per month. The software improved forecasting out to five years, reduced deferral work to about 10% of one employee’s day so resources could be reallocated, and — per BT — has paid for itself multiple times.
