A BIM&CO Case Study
Canal de Isabel II, the public company managing Madrid's water cycle, sought to implement BIM methodology. A key challenge was the lack of developed common standards for classifying BIM objects specific to the water industry, which was hindering the creation of a coherent and structured internal object library. To overcome this, they partnered with vendor BIM&CO to classify 31 representative objects from a wastewater pumping station.
BIM&CO analyzed and classified the properties of the objects, mapping them against international and local standards like IFC and eCOB. They delivered the digitalized objects and found that common standards covered less than 30% of the required attributes, highlighting a major industry gap. As a result, Canal de Isabel II is positioned as a pioneer. They subsequently acquired a license for BIM&CO's Onfly platform to centralize and manage their new classified BIM object library for future projects.
