SmartBike, a Clear Channel subsidiary that rents more than 25,000 bicycles across nine countries, needed a flexible, scalable billing system to collect, rate and bill detailed ride data and manage multiple subscription options and credit card workflows per city. Faced with real-time telemetry from RFID-enabled bikes and patchworked legacy systems, SmartBike required a solution that could monetize ride data, secure customer information, and handle local currencies and payment gateways—needs that led them to BillingPlatform.

BillingPlatform, implemented through a Cognizant partnership, consolidated SmartBike’s global billing in under four months and provided PCI-compliant subscription and credit-card management, standardized inputs across regions, and rich integration and controls. The platform enabled automatic renewals, over-consumption charges, credit-on-record, automated multi-currency revenue collection, and new up-sell/cross-sell and time-based discount capabilities, allowing SmartBike’s finance team to scale operations, monetize usage data, and automate invoicing and reporting.
