Buddybuild, a Vancouver-based SaaS company (acquired by Apple in 2018) that helps developers continuously integrate and debug apps, needed a billing system to support tiered pricing tied to usage. They required a platform that would let customers pick tiers, record usage (such as pull requests), and either bill overages or upgrade customers automatically. Buddybuild selected Billforward and its usage-based (metered) billing solution to meet this need.

Billforward implemented a metered billing setup that ingested pull-request counts via its open API, automating overage charges and identifying customers suited for higher tiers. Billforward also provided a Customer Portal and automated notifications, which reduced manual finance work and, per Buddybuild, dramatically increased monthly recurring revenue.
