Community First Bank Uses Bill.com To Improve Accounts Payable Efficiency

Community First Bank, a Washington-based community bank with multiple branch locations, faced growing inefficiency as accounts payable from all branches were routed to headquarters and required CFO approval before mailing. That centralized process created a bottleneck that consumed senior leadership and clerical time and limited local cost-control decision making.

The bank deployed Bill.com across all branches and distributed payment-approval authority to branch managers, with about one-third of staff using Bill.com for approvals. Today Community First pays 150–175 bills monthly, cut the CFO’s approval time from two hours a week to ten minutes, freed an accounts-payable clerk one full day a month, and empowered staff to drive cost-control initiatives—fostering better oversight and a culture of innovation.
