Five Guys Burgers and Fries franchisees Massachusetts Burger Enterprises—led by Peter Biro and partner Marc Magerman—faced chaotic, paper-based payables as they grew from one Marlborough location toward a planned 20-store rollout. Paper invoices, duplicate and missed payments, and the prospect of hiring a $1,000-a-week bookkeeper threatened to bog down operations and distract the team from expansion.
The partners integrated Bill.com with QuickBooks, trained staff in one billing cycle, and set up mobile access and approval chains so store managers could enter and confirm bills. The result: no more FedExed late checks, saving “over two full work weeks each month,” and a dramatically lower cost than a bookkeeper (roughly $30/month plus $0.49 per transaction), allowing the team to scale Five Guys and roll Bill.com into their new Naked Pizza franchise plans.
