Wright Hassall deploys BigHand to assist fee-earners in smarter working and productivity

Wright Hassall, a 170‑year‑old Midlands law firm aiming to enter the UK Legal Top 100 through organic growth, faced the challenge of improving fee earner productivity and removing low‑value admin tasks. To replace their legacy digital dictation system and support smarter working, Wright Hassall selected BigHand and deployed BigHand Digital Dictation, Speech Recognition and BigHand SmartNote.

BigHand implemented the solution in July 2015 alongside focused change management and compulsory training, achieving 99% attendance. Results include approximately 30% of firm dictations processed through BigHand SmartNote immediately after rollout, 99.35% of the conveyancing team’s dictations routed through SmartNote and Speech Recognition, reclaimed secretarial capacity for compliance and fee‑earning work, reduced paper archiving and measurable time and income benefits driven by BigHand.
