Tees Law cuts dictation time by 33% with BigHand Speech Recognition

Tees Law, a top-200 UK firm with 24 partners and over 240 staff across five offices, faced bottlenecks in its centralised document production process where routine items (like attendance notes) were deprioritised and took too long to capture and process. Seeking to reduce friction and ensure lawyers could “capture the moment,” the firm evaluated solutions and selected BigHand’s Speech Recognition and mobility app to address these workflow challenges.

BigHand implemented speech recognition and a mobile dictation workflow (rolled out July–August 2017), which fee earners adopted rapidly. As a result, speech-recognised dictations now take on average one-third of the processing time of normal transcription, turnaround for priority documents has halved (often completed within hours), and the production team’s workload has become more focused and fulfilling—freeing capacity for initiatives like central file opening.
