Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm, faced the challenge of optimizing lawyer utilization and career development in a hybrid work environment while meeting client demands for diverse, equitably staffed teams and improving talent retention. To address this, the firm partnered with vendor BigHand to enhance its legal resource management capabilities using the BigHand Legal Resource Management platform.

BigHand implemented a co-developed solution, notably an "Opportunities Board" feature, which provided a transparent system for advertising internal development and pro bono work. This gave lawyers autonomy to find new opportunities and manage their hours. The solution led to significant results, including over 200 opportunities advertised with a 70%+ application rate, a 500% increase in pro bono hours recorded, and a 9% year-on-year increase in usage of bonus-eligible hours, greatly improving staff morale and retention.
