Womble Bond Dickinson, a transatlantic law firm with about 1,000 lawyers across 27 UK and US offices, needed to modernize pricing, matter budgeting and client transparency amid rising competition and pandemic pressures. The firm selected BigHand’s Pricing and Profitability, a PMS‑integrated matter budgeting, pricing and tracking tool, to automate previously manual processes and give fee earners, partners and clients clear visibility of matter value.

BigHand rolled out Pricing and Profitability firm‑wide (70% of team members trained), with “cradle to grave” tracking since February 2020 and later added BigHand Workflow Management to route tasks and monitor costs. The solution reduced administrative time, increased client-facing capacity, improved recoveries on tracked matters versus untracked ones, and delivered better margins on matters that had previously been uneconomic — demonstrating measurable financial and operational benefits and enabling a single commercial hub for best practice.
