Ashtons Legal digitises workflow management with BigHand for optimal service output

Ashtons Legal, a leading regional UK law firm, needed better visibility and control over its support workflows to enable a centralised secretarial service and a sustainable hybrid working model. Prior to implementation they had little metric data and relied on informal delegation; to address this they selected BigHand’s Workflow Management to digitise task allocation, tracking and reporting across the firm.

BigHand implemented its Workflow Management solution to centralise tasks, engage staff in redesigning workflows and provide granular reporting to heads of support. As a result Ashtons increased Workflow Management tasks from 83 to 124 per day (Feb–Sep 2021), reduced voice/dictation tasks from 104 to 81 per day, cut average workflow processing time from 23 to 14 minutes, and shortened transcription turnaround from 48 to 8 hours (with processing time down from 30 to 19 minutes). BigHand’s platform has therefore driven measurable efficiency gains, improved staffing decisions and supported Ashtons’ hybrid working model.
