Basefarm, a leading hosting provider for critical business applications, needed a cost-effective way to scale intrusion detection across multiple data centers while reducing duplicate traffic and operational overhead. To secure more than 35,000 hosted services for millions of end users, it turned to Big Switch Networks and its Big Monitoring Fabric for IDS traffic monitoring and analysis.

Big Switch Networks implemented Big Monitoring Fabric with out-of-band monitoring and Dell S4048-ON switch hardware to aggregate production traffic, filter and deduplicate packets, and deliver only relevant flows to security tools. The result was a scalable, easy-to-manage solution that extended IDS across data centers, sped deployment, supported automation, and enabled real-time traffic copies for tools anywhere in the environment, helping Basefarm protect mission-critical services with room to grow.
