How NRI Developed Network Infrastructure that Reduced Costs and Supports Future Growth

Nomura Research Institute (NRI) needed to upgrade its legacy three-layer network, cut manual operations, lower infrastructure costs, and build a scalable, future-proof foundation for its cloud services. To address these challenges, NRI chose Big Switch Networks’ Big Cloud Fabric (BCF), along with VMware vCenter, VMware NSX, and Accton open networking hardware.

Big Switch Networks implemented a leaf-spine fabric across about 50 bare-metal switches to connect NRI’s data centers and support NRI Cloud and other projects. The result was a simplified, centrally managed network with zero-touch automation, lower device and license costs, and a significantly reduced total cost of ownership, while also improving agility and reducing release work man-hours.
