Dubai Municipality, a large governmental institution, faced the challenge of scaling its traditional data center network in an economical way. Their objectives were to become fully operational on SDN technology, enhance visibility and automation for their VMware vSphere deployments, and significantly reduce costs. Big Switch Networks implemented its Big Cloud Fabric, an SDN-based solution that integrated directly with the municipality's vCenter to automate network application deployment. This created a single logical cloud from three physical data centers. The results were substantial, including a 42x increase in switching speed, a 16x increase in backbone capacity, and a 90% reduction in migration costs.
