Dubai Municipality Drives CapEx Savings and Operational Simplicity with Large Scale Deployment of Big Cloud Fabric at Large Scale

Dubai Municipality, one of the largest government institutions in Dubai, needed to modernize its data center network to fully adopt SDN, improve visibility and automation for vSphere deployments, and cut costs associated with traditional scaling and core switch renewals. The municipality turned to Big Switch Networks and its Big Cloud Fabric solution to replace legacy networking with a more efficient, software-defined approach.

Big Switch Networks implemented a core-and-pod, leaf-spine architecture with Big Cloud Fabric integrated directly with vCenter and supported by Edgecore open networking hardware. The result was a more automated and simpler-to-operate environment that improved performance and scale, boosted switching speed by 42x, increased backbone capacity by 16x, and reduced physical and logical migration costs by 90% by consolidating three datacenters into one logical cloud.
