Case Study: Ouagadougou Airport achieves lower-cost international telephony and unified networking with Bicom Systems

A Bicom Systems Case Study

Preview of the Ouagadougou Airport Case Study

Ouagadougou International Airport uses the Bicom Systems telephony system to serve the capital of Burkina-Faso, West Africa

Ouagadougou Airport faced the challenge of integrating disparate telephony systems across four buildings while expanding its international service. With a tight five-day deadline, Bicom Systems' partner had to source reliable hardware and provide a redundant solution that could serve as a regional flagship, all while working with unknown local technologies upon arrival.

Bicom Systems implemented a solution using four HP servers preloaded with PBXware Business Edition to create a unified network with a central server and satellites. Despite a last-minute challenge adapting their Sangoma card to a non-standard local T0 interface, Bicom Systems support guided the on-site engineer to a successful resolution. The results included significantly lower international call costs, a unified communication system across all locations, and a platform for future expansion, solidifying the airport's modern capabilities.
