University of Manchester speeds interlibrary loan pickup with bibliotheca remoteLockers, serving 40,000 students

The University of Manchester, the UK's largest single-site university, faced a challenge in getting interlibrary loan materials to its postgraduate students, many of whom were unable to visit the loan office during its limited weekday hours. To eliminate frustration and provide more convenient access, the university partnered with bibliotheca to implement its remoteLocker solution.

bibliotheca installed a three-tower remoteLocker system on the library's 24-hour accessible ground floor. This allowed students to pick up their interlibrary loans at any time. The result was the elimination of negative feedback from students who found the office closed, a tidier staff work area, and very positive feedback from students who appreciated the new convenience. The lockers are frequently full during term time, demonstrating high usage.
