LA County Library, one of the largest library systems in the US, sought to extend access hours for its patrons, particularly at its high-usage Avalon Library on Catalina Island. The library system partnered with bibliotheca to implement its open+ access solution to provide services during unstaffed hours.
bibliotheca's open+ solution allowed the library to remotely manage lights, security, public computers, and self-checkout stations. This enabled LA County Library to successfully extend morning hours at Avalon Library before staffed operations begin, offering patrons access to Wi-Fi, study spaces, and a complete self-service experience. The implementation is the first phase of a planned rollout aimed at creating more consistent and extended access hours across the county.
