A Biamp Case Study
Washburn University’s Lee Arena in Topeka, Kansas is a 4,150-seat multi-purpose venue used for basketball, volleyball, graduations, and other events. The university needed an audio system that could deliver clear voice announcements and high-quality music while adapting to different event types and stage locations. Biamp was involved in the solution through the audio system design and processing, alongside loudspeakers and amplification components.
Biamp’s solution, implemented by integrator Sound Products, Inc., used a distributed, zoned system with Community I SERIES loudspeakers, Community D5 ceiling speakers for the overflow Ichabod Room, and Ashly DSP with presets for delay, level, and EQ adjustments. The result was consistent coverage, strong gain before feedback, excellent voice intelligibility, and full-range sound powerful enough to overcome crowd noise. The system gave Washburn University flexible audio performance for both sports and non-sporting events.
