A Biamp Case Study
St. Paul Union Depot, a restored historic transportation center in St. Paul, Minnesota, needed a way to provide clear paging and sound reinforcement across 40,000 square feet of event space despite highly reverberant acoustics and widely varying noise levels. Biamp was brought in with its Community loudspeakers and Vocia Voice Communication System to solve the audio challenge without adding acoustical treatments that would conflict with the building’s historic status.
Biamp implemented a distributed system using Community ENTASYS ENT-FR column loudspeakers, CLOUD4 ceiling loudspeakers, and I/05 surface-mount loudspeakers, all managed by the Vocia Voice Communication System for mixing, zoning, amplification, and ambient noise compensation. The result was improved speech intelligibility and natural-sounding event reinforcement, while the loudspeakers were custom-painted to blend into the depot’s original 1920s interior, preserving the site’s historic design.
