Social Security Administration - Customer Case Study

The Social Security Administration (SSA) needed to improve privacy in more than 60 field offices across 18 states, where waiting areas sat just about 15 feet from consultation windows. Because patrons discussed sensitive Social Security and financial information in these spaces, SSA faced challenges meeting privacy obligations under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Privacy Act of 1974. Biamp provided its Cambridge QtPro® Sound Masking System to address the issue.

Biamp installed QtPro sound masking systems in waiting areas and surrounding hallways to reduce speech intelligibility and create a more confidential acoustic environment. As a result, patrons became more comfortable discussing sensitive information, and the SSA field offices were able to better meet their obligations to protect patron data across all retrofitted locations.
