Purdue University - Customer Case Study

Purdue University sought to address overcrowding and functional issues by expanding its aging recreational sports center into a new 338,000-square-foot facility. This project required a single, large-scale audio network to provide paging, background music, and conferencing across 40 diverse zones, from pools to meeting rooms. The challenge was to find a flexible and scalable DSP solution that was also intuitive for the staff to operate daily. The vendor, Biamp, provided the Audia digital audio platform to meet this need.

The solution implemented by Biamp utilized 18 AudiaFLEX units networked via CobraNet to create a comprehensive audio system. This provided centralized control from a reception desk and localized control in individual spaces, featuring automatic ambient noise control for clear paging. The result was a robust and flexible system that enhanced safety through targeted emergency pages and made the facility a premier destination for events. The university was extremely happy with the functionality, and the Biamp system provided all the audio capabilities required to serve every type of patron.
