MassChallenge removes nearly 50% of cubicle partitions with Biamp

MassChallenge, an independent non-profit organization supporting entrepreneurs in Boston, faced significant noise issues in its 24,000-square-foot open-plan workspace. The reflective surfaces caused acoustical challenges that hindered the collaborative, distraction-free environment they needed, and physical partitions between workstations were not a sufficient solution. To address this, they turned to vendor Biamp for a solution using the Qt product line.

Biamp implemented a Qt 600 Sound Masking System with 270 emitters divided into six zones across the office. The solution successfully created a distraction-free environment that fosters collaboration. The impact was measurable; following the installation, nearly 50% of the cubicle partitions were removed. Employees reported being much happier with the reduced noise, and startups felt more private in meeting spaces, leading to an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Biamp system.
