Legion Field, the 70,000-plus-seat stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, needed an audio upgrade after years of heat and humidity had left its aging sound system uneven and hard to hear, especially in the North end zone. Biamp worked with Professional Sound Advice to modernize the stadium’s audio infrastructure using an AudiaFLEX processor along with AudiaEXPI, EXPO, EXPI-4, and EXPI/O-2 units for connectivity across the venue.

Biamp’s networked solution tied the system together over CobraNet and fiber optic cabling, replacing miles of analog runs with centralized control and remote monitoring. The result was clear, even coverage throughout the stadium, with just four speakers delivering audio across the space, and the City of Birmingham saved about $50,000 while achieving performance comparable to far more expensive stadium systems.
