A Biamp Case Study
The University of Vermont Medical Center, a 447-bed tertiary care regional referral center, needed to create a quieter, more comfortable environment for patients and caregivers while also supporting HIPAA privacy requirements and improving HCAHPS “quietness” scores. Vendor Biamp provided the QtPro sound masking system to help reduce speech noise and other distractions in patient-facing areas.
Biamp’s QtPro sound masking system was installed in an inpatient wing, with emitters placed throughout patient rooms, nurse stations, corridors, and office space, and the system was commissioned for optimal performance. The hospital reported a marked improvement in acoustical comfort and a measurable positive impact on patient HCAHPS results, including more patients saying their room was always quiet at night; UVM Medical Center is now expanding the system to additional patient wings.
