XING Improves Security and Transparency of Access Rights with PowerBroker

XING, the Hamburg-based social network for business professionals with about 14 million members, ran a large Linux environment (500 physical and roughly 1,000 virtual servers) and faced slow, inconsistent privilege elevation processes. The company needed to increase security, improve transparency of access rights, integrate with Active Directory, strengthen auditing for compliance, and reduce the time and headcount required to provision users—while staying within budget.

XING deployed BeyondTrust PowerBroker (for Linux) and Identity Server across its production servers to delegate root tasks, implement role-based provisioning, and enable audit-ready logging and reporting. The deployment delivered a stronger security posture and clearer access visibility, faster user setup and easier management of growth with the same team, and positive feedback from both users and auditors.
