Securing Access to a Hospital's IT Network

Meander Medical Centre, an award‑winning hospital in Amersfoort, Netherlands, needed to provide about 80 medical-equipment and application suppliers secure, auditable access to its IT network for maintenance while meeting strict healthcare information‑security regulations. Setting up individual VPNs was impractical due to high complexity, cost and the inability to audit remote sessions.

The hospital deployed Bomgar’s Embassy appliance behind its firewall to provide multi‑platform, granular access controls (50+ permissions), concurrent licensing and comprehensive audit trails including session recordings, file-transfer and chat logs. The result was secure, compliant vendor support (other remote tools were blocked and Bomgar made mandatory), enthusiastic suppliers, and a scalable platform the IT team can expand to incident resolution and internal helpdesk use.
