A BeyondTrust Case Study
A major financial institution that had aggressively virtualized its production environment with VMware faced a security audit that exposed inconsistent, file-based authentication across VMware ESX, Red Hat and Solaris systems. Administrators struggled to manage and synchronize accounts, enforce a 30-day password policy, and securely control privileged access across heterogeneous hosts without a centralized identity solution.
The firm implemented BeyondTrust PowerBroker Identity Services (AD Bridge) to join ESX, Linux and Unix systems to Active Directory, provide one ID per user, enforce group-policy and sudo controls, and enable GSS single sign-on and centralized auditing. The deployment joined 30+ ESX hosts and 50+ Red Hat guests to AD, cut provisioning and password-reset overhead, met compliance requirements, tightened privileged access controls, and delivered consolidated audit reporting for security reviews.
