A BeyondTrust Case Study
An educational institution used TechValidate research to evaluate privileged account management and selected BeyondTrust’s PowerBroker to reduce breach risk, tighten operational practices, and lower total cost of ownership. The organization needed to remove local admin rights, elevate privileges only when required, log and audit privileged activity, and replace sudo in Windows development environments.
They deployed PowerBroker for Windows under a self-imposed policy, achieving a least-privilege model and greatly enhanced auditing—“when and why people used elevated account permissions.” The institution reported a 50–74% increase in IT staff productivity, rated BeyondTrust’s privilege capabilities, reporting, security context, TCO, and deployment options as highly differentiated, evaluated SudoWin beforehand, and plans to extend delegation to Unix/Linux while considering additional BeyondTrust solutions.
