Cetrel S.A. Replaces sudo with PowerBroker for Servers

CETREL S.A., a Luxembourg-based payment services provider and shared service center for the financial industry, was relying on sudo to manage access on its growing Unix/Linux estate. As servers multiplied, sudo’s per-host logs, alterability by superusers, and time-consuming configuration raised serious PCI DSS auditing and compliance concerns and hindered operational productivity.

CETREL replaced sudo with PowerBroker for Servers, installing centralized log and management servers across two sites and deploying 25 agents during a phased rollout, then removing sudo and switching users to the new workflow. The solution delivered centralized policy and audit-ready logging (including keystroke replay), faster agent installs and policy testing, seamless multi-platform integration, and helped CETREL meet PCI DSS requirements while improving security, accountability and operational efficiency.
