Canada's WSIB Automates Privileged Account Management

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) in Toronto faced a security and compliance gap: roughly 250 Windows servers had shared, generic administrator passwords used by multiple staff with no way to identify who was doing what or when. Passwords were changed manually and infrequently, stored insecurely, and the team needed an auditable, automated way to control privileged access across the environment.

WSIB deployed Lieberman Software’s RED Identity Management to discover privileged accounts, automatically rotate each password to unique values, and log and notify when credentials are checked out. The solution automated weekly password changes, removed anonymous access, saved significant staff time, provided full “who/when/why” auditability, and made it simple to revoke access when employees leave—enabling WSIB to expand the solution across its infrastructure.
