Univé Implements Strategic Innovation to Create a New Line of Business

Univé, a traditional Dutch insurer, faced pressure from changing industry trends and customer expectations to reinvent its business around preventive services. Tasked with developing new propositions, Univé needed a way to validate ideas quickly and connect to its existing IT landscape—so it partnered with Betty Blocks to build an Innovation Lab that could rapidly prototype and integrate new services.

Using the Betty Blocks platform (with implementation support from ilionx), Univé launched the Innovation Lab and developed 15 applications—such as Veilig Wonen—releasing one pilot to 10,000 members and demonstrating actual behavior change. The low-cost, fast-build approach (about 850 development hours) moved experiments from months to days, proved propositions quickly, and positioned Univé to save millions while continuing to scale preventive, productized services with Betty Blocks.
