A Betty Blocks Case Study
The European Association of Urology faced a legacy PHP/MySQL system that couldn’t scale with their growing conference and association needs and would have taken years and high costs to redevelop. After piloting platforms, they chose Betty Blocks’ low-code platform to rapidly build a more functional, adaptable solution (later named Oxygen) that could replace their brittle, single-purpose systems.
Using Betty Blocks, EAU developed Oxygen — a single platform integrating CRM, membership and registration modules, abstract handling, logistics, finance, scientific program, accreditation and events management with third‑party integrations. Oxygen handled peak loads of ~1,500 requests/minute and supported 11,000–13,000 attendees with 56,000 scans and 30,000 evaluations/tests, was built by a small team (≈4 developers), and delivered measurable impact: €2.5 million saved in development costs, over 24 months of development time avoided, and an industry award for Best Use of Technology in Events.
