NerdWallet, a consumer finance company, had adopted OKRs but was struggling to scale them effectively: goals lived in PowerPoint/Dropbox, alignment was mostly top-down, and teams found goals hard to access or write clearly. COO Dan Yoo wanted a system to connect goals across nine verticals and horizontal teams so employees could see how their work tied to company priorities.
NerdWallet moved to the BetterWorks enterprise goals platform and launched a Goal Masters program, training about a dozen internal coaches to standardize goal-setting and support peers. Within quarters the company had broad adoption, with 92% of users active in 30 days, four active goals per person and 50% of goals aligned—driving better focus, cross-team connectivity and clearer goal language.
