Workday builds resilience in a time of rapid growth

Workday, a technology company that provides enterprise cloud applications for finance, HR, and planning, faced the challenge of preserving its values-driven culture during a period of hyper-growth. As headcount more than doubled in five years, leaders worried that rapid promotions and new external hires could dilute the company culture and leave managers without the support they needed to help teams grow.

To address this, Workday partnered with BetterUp and deployed 1:1 Dedicated Coaching and the Extended Network for managers, aiming to build trust, support career growth, and strengthen culture. BetterUp helped drive strong results: 94% of participants said coaching made them more effective at their job, 93% reported progress toward goals, and resilience increased by 22% on average, with coached managers also scoring up to 50% above benchmark in key areas like Agility, Inclusion, and Drive.
