Chevron builds community and connection with Coaching Circles™

Chevron partnered with BetterUp to strengthen connection, coaching, and leadership development across its global workforce. As the energy company pursued a business transformation, navigated pandemic-related disconnection, and revamped performance management, it needed a scalable way to support managers and frontline leaders with personalized growth. BetterUp’s Coaching Circles, 1:1 Dedicated Coaching, and Workday Connector were used to help Chevron build a more agile, people-centered culture.

BetterUp implemented Coaching Circles to give Chevron employees small-group coaching experiences that fostered community, psychological safety, and practical skill-building, alongside individualized coaching for targeted development. The results included a 14% increase in Psychological Safety, a 20% increase in Coaching Capabilities, and an 11% increase in Resilience, with nearly all participants saying the coaching was a valuable use of their time. BetterUp also helped Chevron improve recognition and gain richer people insights through Workday integration, enabling more precise development at scale.
