How Schoolhouse Built + Launched a Community in Less than a Week

Schoolhouse.world, a nonprofit high‑school math and SAT peer‑to‑peer tutoring platform, needed a public, moderated community where volunteer tutors and learners could connect informally — Slack was insufficient and an in‑house build wasn’t feasible. To solve this quickly, Schoolhouse.world partnered with Bettermode, using Bettermode’s community platform (SSO, moderation, Watch Later, leaderboard/gamification and customizable Spaces) to reflect the Schoolhouse brand and avoid overwhelming members or admins.

Bettermode helped Schoolhouse.world build and launch a centralized tutor–student community in under a week, then refined adoption with a focused set of core Spaces and a member giveaway to seed activity. The result: a continuous learning hub that deepened tutor–student engagement, centralized communications for the small product team, and supported Schoolhouse.world’s growth (over 2.3K volunteer tutors and 15K+ learners), while giving the team a direct channel for feedback and measurable increases in member interaction.
