The Compass Food Bank, a Mississauga-based charity founded in 2002, struggled with spreadsheets and paper-based volunteer processes that consumed 20+ hours monthly and created barriers to recruitment and onboarding. To modernize volunteer management, The Compass chose Better Impact’s Volunteer Impact platform to replace manual admin and streamline applications, scheduling and training.

Better Impact implemented Volunteer Impact, importing volunteer data and guiding setup, which volunteers quickly adopted (200+ active online, only about three still scheduling by phone). The solution simplified reporting and automated training, dramatically increased completed online applications and attracted younger and more specialized volunteers, helped The Compass scale programs in 2022, and supported outcomes such as distributing 705,278 pounds of food with more than 328 volunteers contributing 37,794 hours in 2022.
