The Auckland Project - Customer Case Study

The Auckland Project, a heritage regeneration charity in Bishop Auckland, struggled with volunteer management built on spreadsheets, paper rotas and ad hoc HR records that caused errors, poor governance and heavy administrative work. Head of Volunteering Michele Armstrong turned to Better Impact and adopted their Volunteer Impact platform in 2020 to replace manual processes and enable remote training during the COVID lockdown.

Better Impact implemented Volunteer Impact (initially Standard Edition, later Enterprise), importing volunteer data, enabling shift scheduling, e-learning, feedback fields and multi-level administration with strong security and support. The change saved an estimated 1,180 hours per year (valued at £25,528) and delivered a 1,601% ROI, while raising satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness and freeing staff time for volunteer engagement and strategic work.
