North London Hospice's Transformation with Volunteer Impact

North London Hospice, a registered charity serving Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, faced inefficient volunteer management driven by spreadsheets and a clinical patient system that couldn’t store documents, customise fields, or produce clear reports. Volunteer Engagement Officer Debbie Usiskin needed a secure, cost‑effective volunteer management solution and selected Better Impact’s Volunteer Impact to replace the bespoke, spreadsheet‑style system.

Better Impact implemented Volunteer Impact (live at NLH since November 2015), providing role‑based permissions, volunteer hours tracking, e‑learning, committees and real‑time feedback tools. The change automated routine tasks and delivered measurable gains: an estimated 1,068 hours saved per year (valued at £25,416) with an ROI of 1,170, and satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness ratings rising from ~1–2 to ~8.5. Better Impact’s platform freed staff time for focus groups and strategic planning and gave NLH a clear, secure overview of volunteer activity.
