A Better Impact Case Study
Foothills Country Hospice Society (FCHS), an eight‑bed rural hospice south of Calgary that relies on about 100 volunteers, struggled for years with paper logs, spreadsheets and an inadequate Track It Forward system for tracking hours, scheduling and reporting. These manual processes ate up staff time, made grant reporting and training difficult, and limited program development—so FCHS sought a volunteer management solution and selected Better Impact’s Volunteer Impact (later adding Client Impact).
Better Impact implemented Volunteer Impact in 2018 and Client Impact in 2021, integrating volunteer scheduling, secure client charting and e‑learning for mandatory training. The digital solution centralized data, reduced duplicate entry, improved reporting and volunteer self‑service, and freed up roughly 1,268 hours per year (valued at about $31,090) with an estimated 3,009% ROI—raising satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness and enabling program expansion, better work–life balance for staff, and stronger grant reporting.
